Bed Bugs Pestering You Throughout Your Home? What You Need To Do

Posted on

Bed bugs are unwanted houseguests that break into your home and stay long after you want them to be there. They are terrible to evict and will do whatever they can in order to stick around. These pests will attempt to vacation with you and may follow you to other people's homes. These are not an ideal type of pest, so if they are pestering you at your home, you need to get to work right away to get rid of them. Bed bugs are not large pests, and they can go unnoticed for a long time before you are aware of their presence. One of the things you may notice are sores on your body, which are the bites from these pests. These bites will leave you with itchy welts, usually on the torso, back of the arms, or the legs/buttocks. If you have noticed signs of these pests in your home, read on for a few things you can do to help get rid of them.

Wash All Bedding

Wash and dry all of your bedding in the hottest settings possible to kill the bed bugs that you have in your sheets and blankets and on your pillows. Everything that can fit into the washing machine or be washed should be cleaned this way to kill these bugs. Anything that cannot fit into the washing machine should be put into a plastic garbage bag and sealed tightly. Place it into your garage for the time being to help kill the pests inside. Leave everything in it for several days and then shake it out and toss the bag with hopefully deceased bed bugs inside. Your mattress and box spring should be put into a protective bag to prevent bed bugs from getting back in your bed.

Vacuum Your Entire Home

Every room in your home needs to be vacuumed daily until you are rid of these pests. Vacuum every single room in your home, paying close attention to the baseboards and beneath furniture where these pests may be lurking. Empty the canister outside of your home and into a trash bag that can be sealed tightly. Repeat this task daily until you no longer have signs of bed bugs in your home.

Wipe All Surfaces

Wipe down all hard surfaces in your home where bed bugs may be residing. This includes your baseboards, all of your hard furniture, cabinetry, light fixtures, and even the trim around windows and doors. Wipe down all surfaces to kill the pests that may be lurking throughout your home. You can wipe it all down with a vinegar/water mixture and kill any pests you see along the way.

If you have an issue with bed bugs, cleaning your home will help, but you may also need a bed bug treatment to kill these pests. Hire a professional pest control company to help you get control of these unwanted houseguests.
